Artist Statement

Art for me is an exploration of my deepest truths, the world which remains veiled under my everyday life and thoughts. Painting helps me become aware of it and explore the woman, the warrior, the child and sometimes the nothingness in me. I have realized that the narratives come to me in sync with the thoughts most powerful in my mind at a given point in time. Animal, bird and nature symbolism plays a very important role in my work which usually comes from the hindu and native american beliefs and symbology. I also make my own language of symbols based on my personal thoughts and experiences.

I work in the classical realist tradition of fine arts. My deepest desire is to perfect the representation of human form in terms of anatomy, light, gestures and story telling. I work primarily in oil and charcoal. Like painting, drawing for me is an art form in itself and not just a skeleton to a painting. I got trained under artist Mark Kang O'Higgins in the contemporary realist tradition of drawing and painting at the Gage Academy of Art.

I live and work in Seattle, WA
