I am a multidisciplinary artist working in oil, charcoal, and the written word. Through realism and storytelling, I explore themes of transformation and our connection to the natural world.
I was born and raised in India, where cultural stories and mythologies were woven into everyday life. Those early experiences continue to shape my creative practice. As an introspective child, I was drawn to art and writing as a way of making sense of my inner world. After moving to Seattle in 2009, I studied realist drawing and painting to give form to my inner narratives. Since then, I have developed a studio practice that spans fine art, storytelling, and education.
My work weaves together Indian spiritual philosophy, Western representational painting, and a deep love for figurative art. The Hindu belief of Vasudeva Kutumbakam (the entire creation is one big family) deeply resonates with me, and plants, animals, and birds appear throughout my work as symbolic forms. As a woman and mother of two young daughters, I experience the world through a female lens. The female figure holds a central place in my practice, embodying intuition, beauty, and warrior-like strength.
Writing is an integral part of my process. Poems, reflections, and narrative prose often emerge alongside my artwork, offering another pathway into its meaning. This love of image and text led me to create a graphic novel—a spiritual take on a coming-of-age journey.
Learning and teaching go hand in hand for me. Alongside my work as an artist, I am deeply committed to art education. I teach drawing and painting at Pratt Fine Arts Center and partner with Path with Art to support individuals navigating trauma and recovery through creative expression.
